Today

Jacob is home with strep throat.  Yes all it takes is one week of school and we are sick.  The poor kid was miserable on Saturday, but I was sure it would just pass.  I really don’t like Kids Care visits on Sunday evenings, we are always doing that!  I was happy though that I had taken him when she said, it is strep.  On my way to the pharmacy I got pulled over for not turning into the right lane.  I used a poor me I have a sick child excuse and the nice cop only gave me a warning.

Jacob is thrilled with not having to go to school.  He came home on the second day of school and I asked “how was it”?  He replied, “good” and then a few seconds later said, “I can’t wait for summer”.

Speaking of summer, you can all imagine how MAD I am today with this weather.  I am taking deep breathes and imagining the warm weather later this week.  Keep breathing…………keep breathing………………………………..

My Summer birthday

Yes once again the school district got a bit messed up and thought school was supposed to start in the middle of the summer!  I tried to separate the two, but it was hard.  Hard to be excited for my birthday because that meant school started.  Well I made the most of the day and enjoyed it thoroughly, except for the part where I had to make lunches, get my kids and the million donations they had to take to school, and be home in time for early out!

Jonah always gets me M&M’s.  I had started the morning with a 4 mile run so I look a bit red.

There they are, my cute boys.  3rd grade and 6th grade!!!  Jonah cried and cried when I didn’t let him stay at the school.

Lunch and shopping with my BFF, a birthday tradition.  Why didn’t we take a picture?????

IMG_2088

These darling friends came across the street singing happy birthday in English and then once again in their mission languages, Russian, Chinese and Texan.

IMG_2090

I received a text from Bryan while at lunch which read, “I am fully aware that your cake is in shambles”.  It is the thought that counts!

IMG_2091

Jonah baby so happy to hear the singing and to help me blow out the candles.

Bryan, as usual, had family and friends over for cake and ice cream.  It was very nice and fun.  Of course it had to be way short due to the fact that everyone had to get home and get in bed.  I am not bitter or anything.

I LOVE my birthday and I really hope next year it is the way it should be…..in the middle of the summer.

Unaccounted Events

As summer vacation has come to an end I realize I need to account for the fun we have had these past few weeks.

IMG_2050

Just a random morning where Brandon and I were dressed alike.

IMG_2058

Fun times at a party at Tiffany’s neighbors house.

IMG_2054

More fun at that party.

No pictures to document the next few events because my camera battery keeps dying on me.

Boating Friday at Utah Lake, ward campout Friday night (just me, Jonah and Jacob while Bryan stayed home with Brandon for football and a scout campout, I know I am a nice Mom.) shower for Cindy (where I left out one of the main ingredients in the salad I brought).

And a long awaited moment……

IMG_2066

The return of Big Brandon.  It was so great to see him this morning.  All “my boys” are home now.  So exciting.  We have spent pretty much the whole day with the Beck’s and had a great time.

My Brandon will be next.

Now on to the best and worst day of the year tomorrow.  The best, my birthday.  The worst, school starting.

I can sew???

My BFF and her Mom and Sister-in-laws  are talented, crafty, sewing kind of girls.  They get together every once in awhile to work on projects.  I attend the gathering and eat, talk, laugh and watch.  Well last Friday was a “sewing” day.  I was asked several times what I was working on, and my reply was, “nothing”.  Well Tiffany and Cindy needed to go to JoAnn’s fabric store to get some items so I went along.  I had mentioned it would be fun to make car seat covers for Bethany’s new twins.  Well we walk in and Tiffany sees a friend who has her car seat with a cover she had made.  Tiffany and Cindy instantly scout the cover out and declare that I would be able to make them easily.  So their trip to get stuff ends up with me buying fabric and ribbon.  I had not much of an idea how to do that.  So with their careful instruction and overlooking eyes I was able to make not one but two car seat covers in one afternoon.  O.K. really I only made one and Tiffany made the other, and she had to sew the ribbon on both.  I couldn’t believe I made such cute things.  I was so thrilled to take them to Bethany that night as I went and took a night shift with the babies.

I think they are darling, but don’t ask me to make any on my own because I would not know how to do it!  I better start planning what I will make at the next gathering, because apparently I can sew.

The end

After learning that Jonah’s binkie sucking had caused his teeth to move, I set a date to be done.  The date was August 12th.  We built it up for a week and then last night he came to an end.  I say “he” because binkie has always been a “he”.  I have said before how his froggie binkie has been a life saver.  So here it is, Jonah and his froggie binkie through the past 3 years.

(yes, I would coordinate frog blanket and hat with froggie binkie)

I LOVE this picture.

IMG_0441

I love this one almost as much.

IMG_0877

Probably should have gotten rid of it around this time of his life.

IMG_2035

And then yesterday, I let him have it all afternoon.

IMG_2039

He was so excited, but didn’t understand what was happening.

IMG_2040

Brandon wanted to do the honors.  We cut the tip off so he can still hold the froggie part.

IMG_2042

And this is what it tasted like after trying it in his mouth.

I admit I got teary eyed as we did it.  He loves his binkie, I have loved his binkie, my little Jonah baby is growing up!  He had a hard time going to sleep, but managed to chew on part of the part that was left.  Hopefully he will still take naps!

Positive Thinking

So instead of dwelling on the fact that we DID NOT get to go to Mexico last week, I will focus on the positives of going to St. George.

#1 5 hour drive instead of a combined 15 hour drive, nuf said!

#2 Nate and Aliska got to come for a few days

IMG_1981

#3 Um, lets see what else. Oh I was able to keep up on my training schedule and went on some great bike rides. First minor bike accident, I landed on a cactus.

#4 Bryan was able to back into Aliska’s car, oh wait that wasn’t really a positive thing.

#5 I was able to go to Emilee's wedding dinner, which was fabulous!

#6 We all had a great time!

I will continue with the positive thinking, even though school starts in 2 weeks.
