Girls Trip

Ahhhhhhhh…..that is what I felt on my little weekend getaway to sunny St. George.  So relaxing.  I went with my sister Bethany, sis in law Jen, hopefully soon to be sis in law Aliska and her sister Katie.  We had the BEST time.  The drive was no big deal because I was laughing and talking and enjoying myself.  We pretty much just hung out at the pool the whole time.  The weather was so nice.  We read, talked, played games, went on the water slide.  I LOVED it.  At night we ate, talked, played games, watched movies, hot tubbed, stayed up late.  I LOVED it.  I did venture out once to go shopping, which made me cry because pants DO NOT fit me, oh well.

The best part of the whole thing was the lack of responsibility I could have.  No ONE was depending on me.  The only thing I had to do was make sure that Bethany didn’t have to do anything to make those little babies in her want to come early, I succeeded.

Pretty wild time for me when I come home and say, I didn’t wear sunscreen (ok the 2nd day I did), drank lots of diet coke with lime and didn’t go to church.  I know, I know I am so rebellious.

My boys missed me, they were higher than I kite when I got home Sunday night.   Right before I walked in the door Jonah was running wild with excitement and tripped and fell which led to crying which led to him throwing up.  Welcome home!  They acted like I had been gone forever.  The trouble with a fantastic weekend like that is that it ends all too soon and back to reality I go!

Thoughts on this Thursday

What a great week this has been.  I didn’t really have anything going on and was able to do whatever I wanted.  I love weeks like this.   Some of the highlights are.

1.  Going to lunch with Lauren before she leaves for Mexico (again) for 3 months.  Going to miss her, but so glad she gets to go and have such a wonderful time.

2.  Getting most of the front yard weeded.  The back yard I only did half and I keep looking at it and wishing it wasn’t raining/snowing so I could go out and finish.

3.  Baseball season started!  I love baseball season, too bad for Jacob I am guessing his game tonight will be a rain out.

4.  Last night while reading scriptures Jonah said he wanted a turn.  He then said, And it came to pass Jesus and Nephi went to Costco.  They love the store.

5. Brandon is down to allergy shots once a week!  Too bad Jacob started later and still has to go twice a week.  At least I can leave Jonah and Brandon home.

6. And I guess I have been home for long enough it is time for me to go on vacation again.  Girls trip to St. George for the weekend with my sister, sister-in-law, and Nate’s girlfriend (hopefully soon to be a sis-in-law).  It will be nice and relaxing and I only have to pack for myself!!!

Whoops

Friday evening I was inside and heard a thud followed by a screaming Jacob coming from the front yard.  My first thought was, oh great he fell out of the apricot tree and broke something.  Instead I went out to find this.

He was riding his bike down the street and it apparently doesn’t have brakes.  So he headed right for the fence where he went through the fence and received whip lash and scrapes all down his face.

Nice battle wounds and the hope for a new bike!

Lucky to make the list

I found this taped to Jacob’s door the other day.

I had technical difficulties scanning it and making it work, but this is as much time as I will spend on it.

I laugh everytime I see it.

Spring Break 2010

I have been dreading blogging about my trip because how can I put into words how fabulous it was???? I didn’t even mind the drive. The ride down went quickly, Jonah was very happy and that made it easier. We spent Friday night in Page, Arizona and then Saturday drove the rest of the way to Mesa. Saturday was spent watching conference and the kids playing with their cousins. Sunday morning after conference (which gets over at 11:00 in Arizona) Bryan’s family had a BIG Easter lunch (dinner) and an Easter egg hunt. We hurried and ate and then hit the road. We met up with my Dad and my sister Bethany and her family and it was off to Mexico we went. That short 4 hour drive is always so nice. The desert was in bloom, which is a rarity to see.

The rest of the trip was days and days of swimming, being in the sun, running on the beach, shopping on the beach, eating delicious tortilla’s, running into my cousin and her family who I hadn’t seen in 5 years and was staying at the same resort, running into a friend of a friend at our resort, meeting several families from Utah (this was a first for us in Mexico), being in an earthquake and not feeling it because we were still driving, but our resort swayed, going to bed early, eating every meal on the balcony and waking up to this site every day…

This was actually taken in the afternoon so it is shady and not as pretty as in the morning.

Bryan doesn’t love the sun or water or Mexico like I do, but he puts up with it for me.

Off

We are off today to meet one of the goals each family member set for this year.  We will make it to Mexico!  I am not looking forward to the drive, but the end result will be so worth it.  We are just heading part way to Page tonight and then on to Mesa tomorrow.  After a bit of time with Bryan’s family we will be heading to the beach on Sunday.  Ohhhh I can’t wait.  Jonah asks me every hour or so, is it time to go to Mexico?  Every time he sees a picture of Mexico come up on my computer he says, that’s the Mexico I want to go to.

So wish me luck, I am off to find the warm sun!!!

My Bathroom….Finally

It is functioning!!!!  I can’t say it is completely done because the backslpash has to be cut down so that the mirror can go back up.  All the towel bars are not up and it needs some touch up paint, but I can use my new shower!

About a year ago we gave up using our master bath shower because the door was broken (it had been broken for years and years and years) to the point of it not working at all anymore.  So we all started using the boys shower/tub and thought one day we will get started on tearing out the old shower.  In November we started slowly tearing it down.  In December we tore out the floor.  At the beginning of January we took out the vanity and toilet.

So it took a very long time and has taken up almost all of my time for the past few months.  We hired our new friend who had been working on the Beck’s house to do a lot of the work.  Yes Bryan could have done some of it, but it was so nice to not have him  thinking about it.  We kind of had things done backwards and in stages, but that doesn’t matter anymore!

So here it is, my tiny master bathroom.

The only structural change was the ceiling above the shower was raised.  If only there had been room to enlarge……

And this is my most favorite part.

Can you see those darling symbols?  I got very excited when I saw those on the handle.  It is a snowflake for cold and a sun for hot, much better than a C and H!

So there it is.  After months of working and making decisions and going much over budget.  I don’t know how anyone does a major house remodel, this small thing is about all my lack of decorating mind could handle!
