It is not happening at our house.
2 months before Brandon turned 3, while on vacation in Florida, he said I don’t want to wear diapers anymore. So he ran around on the beach without one and came home potty trained.
When Jacob was 2 1/2 he decided the same thing. He wanted to try it out and did with success (in the middle of January).
So I have always said, potty training is easy, no big deal. That is because I haven’t ever done it!!!! Here comes Jonah 3 1/2 years old and has NEVER peed on the toilet. He has sat on it at least 20 times. He has been told he can go to Yogurt Stop with Dad if he goes 5 times, he talks about it all the time but nothing. He has Lightning McQueen underwear that he loves, but never wears. Yesterday I told him we can go to Disneyworld as soon as he is potty trained, he is all excited but that is all. Today I said you can have one of my M & M’s (which I give him whenever he asks) if you go on the potty. He sat and sat and wiped and wiped and nothing happened. He is very upset about not getting the M & M.
I am done with diapers. Jonah is the first to wear generic diapers because I am sick of paying for Huggies. Two of my 18 year old young men friends were just telling me how expensive diapers were, REALLY?????????? I realize I only have 3 children that I have provided diapers for, but still. I am hoping and hoping that this is just going to click for him and we can be done!

Welcome to my world!! NONE of my kids had EVER peed on a toilet before it was 'potty training time.' My philosophy is just put on the underwear, clean up the pee and they'll figure it out. I am a firm believer in when THEY are ready, and thus mine have all been three years old. But 31/2 is certainly pushing it to 'It's time whether HE is ready or not!'
My philosophy was two-fold:
1. I would rather change a soiled diaper than soiled underwear, so go ahead and keep that thing on as long as you want.
2. As long as it happens before kindergarten, who cares?
The only child I had a hard time potty training was the one I tried to force.
Guess what! All my kids are potty-trained! And yours will be too. Don't sweat it. Just let it be.
rots of ruck....you will need it.
hahahahahaha. Oh kimi! You crack me up! "If it happens before Kindergarten, who cares?" hahahahahaha.
Poor Jonah.
My Foster, Jacob was not fully trained until he was FOUR. Yes, 4 years old. I told him he could go to preschool if he was trained and went int he toilet. He just looked at me and said " I don;t want to go to preschool." Well, ok. So he finally was trained just after he was four. He was my kid with the least amount of accidents. I'm with KD and your bff Tiffany, he'll do it when he is ready. Oh, it always helps to turn on the water while they sit on the pot. Brookie still does this. I'm serious.
Does Brookie know you're telling us that, Si?
