School, again

My not so favorite day of the year came again.  Now we are 3 weeks into the school year and I stand by my preference for care free summer days.

Big 8th grader, cannot believe it!

And 5th grade???  I remember everything  about 5th grade.

Baby started a few days after the others.  Another year of preschool, he loves it of course!

Labor Day Triathlon 2012

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do the triathlon this year due to a hip issue. (hip impingement, torn cartilage and bursitis, blah blah blah)  I didn’t run for a whole month and it was terrible.  I hated the feeling of not running.  Anyways a few days before the tri, I got the OK to start running again…..such a great feeling!  Brandon and Jacob wanted to do it with me so I signed them up for the novice division and I did the sprint.

P1000033

Nice action shot of me after the swim and getting ready to ride.  I think after all the tri’s I have done I have finally figured out what to wear, that is always my biggest stress.

P1000038

The pictures of the swim don’t ever work out.

P1000045

Brando starting the ride.

P1000046

Jacob getting started.

I guess there are no pictures of me biking, we have enough of those anyways.

After the ride I got back to quickly change shoes and run and found Jacob hysterically crying at my spot.  It turns out that his brakes were on for the whole bike ride so it was impossibly hard for him to ride.  Bryan found him and got him to the end, but he didn’t want to finish out the run.  The poor kid, he still had fun in the end.

P1000049

So proud of them!

P1000051

We always have fun when we tri!

P1000053

My overall time is similar to the past ones, but I keep improving on the swim.

The best day of the year

This year was even better because school had not started and was not about to start!  I always say my birthday is the same every year, you could know where to find me at any time.  This year was no different except for we did mix it up a bit!

I woke up to presents and the boys made me breakfast.

Jonah opted away from his traditional bag of M & M’s and got me Oreo’s and a Hershey bar??????

It was a lime green themed year…the dress, of course…the chair….and the Le Creuset pan!

I greeted fans in the morning and then headed off for my day with Tiffany.

Here is where we mixed it up.  I went and got a pedicure without Tiffany, due to a chunk being taken out of her toe nail by her 3 year old.  We then headed to Farmington and ate at Settebello and shopped at Marshalls.  Much different than our usual Plates and Palates and TJ Maxx!

Home to greet more fans and my most favorite dinner made by Bryan.

Then a little more mixing it up as we went to my Dad and Judi’s for the cake and ice cream celebration.

Bryan, no joke, made Laurie Cutler’s carrot cake.  It was so delish!

Everyone is always happy when it is my birthday!

We go to lunch once a year and sometimes take our picture together once a year as well!  She celebrates my birthday big time and I go out of town for hers….not this year though.

We cannot stop laughing at baby in this picture.  Oh what a nut he is.

And there it is.  The green dress in all it’s glory!

Wildflower Pedalfest

My goal this year was a big bike ride.  I wanted to do Little Red, but didn’t get in so I opted for the first ever Wildflower Pedalfest 75 mile ride.  The plan was for me to ride with my friend Jill, but a couple of weeks before the ride she had to change plans.  Who else could take on a ride of this magnitude with short notice than Diane Lake, a very seasoned rider.  We had fun doing some rides together before the big day.

The ride was great.  Diane went super slow so I could keep up with her.  She stuck with me except for on big mountain, the only timed portion of the ride.  5.5 miles straight on up the mountain.  I just kept on pedaling and made it to the top without stopping, of course I was SO slow.

Here we are at our first stop, East Canyon

And there we are at the top!  Diane did it in a brisk 48 minutes and I was right there behind her at  1 hour and 6 minutes, ha she was so nice to wait for me.

I felt good until about mile 60 and then I just ran out of steam.  We kept on pedaling to make it to the end.

We had a great time together even though it was a long long day.  6 1/2 hours of actual riding and about another hour of stopping and who knows what.

I sometimes get discouraged at these things I think I can do.  I am so much slower than everyone else.  I finally decided that I don’t train to do an event, I decide I am doing the event and then do it the best I can.  I am slow, but I still love the feeling of accomplishing!
