And Christmas 2010!!!!!

Hurray for Christmas morning.  I woke up probably 4 times in the night hoping that it would be 7:00 (The time I told Jacob he could wake up).  I have always had this fear that someone will break into our house on Christmas Eve and steal everything, I don’t know why but I think it every year.  So anyways between thinking that and being soooo excited for the morning, I didn’t sleep much.  At exactly 7:00 Jacob was by my bed and I hopped right out.  We had to convince Bryan, Brandon and Jonah to get up as well!  I was relieved as I got down stairs to see everything was there.

Happiness was all around.

Sometimes I worry that I don’t get enough gifts, ha ha.  My pile is ALWAYS bigger than everyone else's.

Everyone was so happy with everything they got and then Bryan surprised us ALL with these!  Not going to lie…..Dance Central was made for me!!!!

We had breakfast over at the Beck’s, which wasn’t planned, but worked out wonderfully.  Then my family all came over again.  It was the best day.  Garbage everywhere, crumbs on the floor, drinks spilled on my puzzle, dishes all over the place, everyone playing the kinect…..and I didn’t mind any of it.  I love this day and everyone being together and just enjoying it!  A little surprise visit from my Brookie helped as well!!!

Christmas Eve 2010

Rather than squash everything Christmas into one post, I thought I would drag it out a bit.  Christmas Eve, I thought I was in good shape the night before and wouldn’t have too much to do on the day.  Wrong, I was cooking, cleaning, wrapping and creating all day long.  Boy was I glad once 5:00 hit and there was no more time!

My family has always had the tradition of a nice Christmas Eve dinner together.  Pretty much every year it is at my house, which is fine.  My idea is, a nice meal done the easiest way possible.  Hence why we use paper products, my BFF was alarmed at this last year.  I finally realized, I don’t need to be doing dishes late on Christmas Eve.

My gift to the boys Christmas Eve, matching Jazz pajama pants made by me, but really made by my very helpful friends Chris and Cindy.  Thank you thank you, they loved them!

And luckily my kids go to bed very easily and they were all out by 9:00.

AZ

Our trip to AZ was nice.  The drive only halfway killed me.  The preparation, you already know, totally killed me.  We made it in 10 1/2 hours, which was nice.  I am usually semi fine until it has been 8 hours.  So only 2 1/2 hours of not semi fine.

The boys were so excited to see their cousins and had a great time with them, it makes it worth it.  Jonah LOVES his aunt Jamie and her kids.  Bryan, Jonah and I stayed at Bryan’s parents house and Jonah would cry every morning to take him to Jamie’s house.  We spent most of our time at her house anyways.  We joke that Jonah’s leg muscles are going to atrophy from being carried around everywhere by one of his cousins.  They have turtles and a chicken roaming around their backyard, which is unique and fun.

We didn’t do much, just enjoyed the 70 degree weather, did some Christmas shopping and ate and ate and ate.  My 3 days went quickly and soon I was flying home with Jonah baby.  It was HEAVEN to get home in a little more than an hour.  I then worked like crazy for the next 3 days to get everything bought, wrapped and cleaned.  I did enjoy lunch two of the days with friends which was wonderful.

Next Christmas we are NOT going out of town the week before.

Not a good idea

Leaving tomorrow……..no time to think about the trip yet, nothing is ready, going crazy.  Next year someone stop me if I forget and try this again!!!!!

Oh and highlight of the week.  Me and Jazz player Ronnie Price, just hanging out at the Gateway.  You know I do that all the time.  Or maybe I saw him and stopped him and he was really nice and waited while I took 2 pictures because the first one my eyes were closed.  Shook my hand and said it was nice to meet me.  I know it is dumb to most people, but I LOVED it!

Poor Jacob

Medical mysteries are not uncommon here in my family.  If something weird is going to happen to someone, it will happen to one of us.  Particularly Jacob.  With his strange small start (ok my fault not his) it has not ever let up.  Tonsils and Adenoids came out when he was 2, did that solve the sleep apnea????  Of course not, then came the MRI and discovery of his Chiari malformation.  Brain surgery at the age of 3 and a year later yes it solved the sleep apnea and the throwing up on command and the persistent headaches!  Playing with friends in a swamp and he comes home with a tick in his head, of course.   Jumping on the bed with cousins he falls and hits his head on a mug, requiring stitches, of course.   Rotavirus at age 9 months requiring a hospital stay, of course.  The list goes on and on.  This fall he had a strange infection on his finger, he told everyone it was a spider bite.  After hearing about it from her kids my BFF called to make sure I knew what blood poisoning looked like because knowing Jacob he would have it, he didn’t.

So this brings me to this week.  Sunday night he was running around the house with the other boys and falls and hits his eye on the vacuum.   Not a big deal until he wakes up the next morning and still has a headache from it and maybe a little sore throat.  I figure he is getting a cold and keep him home.  Tuesday I send him to school and Jonah starts getting a running nose and cough.  Tuesday evening Jacob does not feel good.  Wednesday morning I make him go to school because it was project day with my friends and I HAD to finish something for Christmas (ok more like I had to watch my friends finish it for me, that is another story).  I start feeling sick that day and realize I have a cold as well.  Wednesday night he can’t stop coughing, Thursday morning he can’t stop coughing.  No school Thursday.  So Thursday night Jonah and I are feeling much better, just minor colds, but not Jacob.  At 12:30 last night I woke up to him coughing and coughing and coughing and then him throwing up all while his nose is gushing blood.  It was a wonderful 1/2 hour.  He asked if I thought he could go to school today and I kept saying, yes you will feel better in the morning.  Did he?  No, of course not.  He has a fever, can’t stop coughing and just doesn’t feel good. 

Only Jacob would still be sick.  He is such a sweet and independent child.  I really really hope today is the last day of this.

Note to Self

Don’t go two weeks without reading people’s blogs.  It takes way too much time to catch up and you really can’t enjoy each one and comment like you would like to.  Don’t let that happen again.

All in a day

So my past week has been filled with planning and carrying out our ward Relief Society Christmas dinner.  I knew it would be a lot of work, I just didn’t realize HOW much!  Thankfully I have wonderful friends who helped SO much and made it possible.  It is so nice to have a good friend who held my hand throughout the whole dinner planning and preparing and made all the meat herself.  Also a friend who came up with a decorating idea and once I had gathered everything together she turned a church gym into a very beautiful and classy looking place.  And of course a BFF who took Jonah for an ENTIRE day so I could spend the whole of it getting ready.  So many people helping is what makes these kinds of things possible and I am so grateful to all who helped me.

Also yesterday I got a new dryer.  After 2 months of having to turn the dryer on 2-4 times to get anything dry I now only have to turn it on once.  Bryan found the same brand as my new washer on KSL for a smoking deal.  A new vacuum, dryer and phones.  Wow I won’t need Christmas, or more like there won’t be money left for Christmas!
