Let’s see for the first 4 years of Jacob’s life I was woken up by him at least 3-4 times a night. For the first 6 months of Jonah’s being home I was woken up around 10 times a night. Now the past year has been heavenly. Jonah sleeping through the night, not only through the night, but from 7:00 p.m. to almost 8:00 a.m. Jacob he still wakes me up here and there, but for the most part I have been able to enjoy continuous sleep.
Flash forward to last night. Jonah had a hard time getting to sleep, finally around 8:00 he is quiet. 12:00a.m. I am woken up by a screaming Jonah, I go get him, deal with him and get him back to sleep. 12:30 Brandon comes into my room crying saying his throat hurts. I tell him to get a drink and leave me alone! (I am such a nice Mom at night) 12:30-2:30 Brandon crying off and on and me not being nice to him. 2:50 Jonah screaming again, Bryan gets up and trys to calm him down. I kept thinking I haven’t had to do this in a long time and it has been so nice. At 3:15 I go take over because I thought I could get him right to sleep. Well around 4:00 I think I finally was back to bed. Brandon continued whimpering, but no sounds from Jonah. When my alarm went off at 6:30 I promptly turned it off.
My body just isn’t used to being up all night anymore. We are now heading into surgery with Jonah tomorrow and I have some sleepless hospital nights ahead of me, but maybe I will be used to it!
Oh, and Brandon has strep throat, so I should have been nicer than I was!
